Becoming American

It is fascinating how the process to become an American citizen happens.  It is also amazing how people just got up and left everything they are used too to start a new life in America.  Not all the members in the family went so it had to be really hard to let loved ones go to a new country with a chance that you will never see them again.  I do not think I would ever be able to leave the life I used to to start all over and leave family members behind.  It is great to know your ancestry and all about your background.  It is a little challenging for me to do that because my grandfather was adapted and we do not know his whole background.  Just because one comes to America does not mean they lose site of where they came from and who they really are.  It is what is in their heart that they remember and cherish it.

When the speaker in the Video said that when he was little he thought America is the best.  Being an American is the greatest thing ever.  All kids are meant to believe that Americans are the greatest,  There is no better country out there and that is why there is all this hate and discrimination between people.  You have the people who think Americans are the best and no one else is good enough for anything.

Cultural Backgrounds

In the video the multicultural Manners in School I agree when she says it depends on the economics situation.  She made a good point if your life depends on farming and your parents ask you to help out that is your priority over school.  In my eyes its the same thing as in some families where no one went to college so to some kids its ok not to go to college and not care about high school because they do not plan on moving on to the next step.

In the video Manners And Body Language Across Cultures I agree when she says that it is very easy to miss read cues. I agree with this comment because in some cultures it is wrong to look the teacher in the eyes due to the power of authority.  Some teachers might think that a student is not listening to what the teacher is saying because their student might not be making eye contact  but the student is doing the total opposite and showing the teacher them up most respect because in their culture it is disrespectful to look directly into the sees of the superior.

After watching all three videos I agree that someones culture background plays a part in someones education because all cultures are different and someone might be doing something that you are not used to and it does not mean he or she is being disrespectful it is just their culture.
