To help your students understand more about their family they can interview their family members so they can get an idea of what their parents childhood was like what their life is now and what they do everyday. As a class we can create charts on family members and what they like to do such as sports, holidays this way it is the whole understanding more about other cultures as well as the child.

Family Stories
What i find interesting and also believe is a family that knows more about each other is more likely to be successful when bad things occur. When families talk to each other on a regular basis and communicate then families know what is going on in each others life. It is also easier then to go to someone in your family and talk to them when bad events happen. It helps when parents and children have things in common because it starts off conversations and makes talking easier.

5th Blog Little Toot
Just because someone is different does not mean you have to treat them differently. Just like the video of Little Toot and The Lochness Monster. In the beginning of the video little toot told the other boats about the monster that he had a dream about and all the boats laughed at him except for one who encouraged him to try his best and prove those other boats wrong and find a monster. Just as a teacher should encourage a student to do their best in school no matter what the obstacles are. In the middle of the video Little Toot arrived in Scotland and when he got the other boats treated him weird because he was not from their and they thought that he knew something that they did not know. That is sort of how society is today when immigrants come over to America people treat them differently because they are originally not from here and they don't trust them.

Becoming American
It is fascinating how the process to become an American citizen happens. It is also amazing how people just got up and left everything they are used too to start a new life in America. Not all the members in the family went so it had to be really hard to let loved ones go to a new country with a chance that you will never see them again. I do not think I would ever be able to leave the life I used to to start all over and leave family members behind. It is great to know your ancestry and all about your background. It is a little challenging for me to do that because my grandfather was adapted and we do not know his whole background. Just because one comes to America does not mean they lose site of where they came from and who they really are. It is what is in their heart that they remember and cherish it.
When the speaker in the Video said that when he was little he thought America is the best. Being an American is the greatest thing ever. All kids are meant to believe that Americans are the greatest, There is no better country out there and that is why there is all this hate and discrimination between people. You have the people who think Americans are the best and no one else is good enough for anything.

Cultural Backgrounds
In the video the multicultural Manners in School I agree when she says it depends on the economics situation. She made a good point if your life depends on farming and your parents ask you to help out that is your priority over school. In my eyes its the same thing as in some families where no one went to college so to some kids its ok not to go to college and not care about high school because they do not plan on moving on to the next step.
In the video Manners And Body Language Across Cultures I agree when she says that it is very easy to miss read cues. I agree with this comment because in some cultures it is wrong to look the teacher in the eyes due to the power of authority. Some teachers might think that a student is not listening to what the teacher is saying because their student might not be making eye contact but the student is doing the total opposite and showing the teacher them up most respect because in their culture it is disrespectful to look directly into the sees of the superior.
After watching all three videos I agree that someones culture background plays a part in someones education because all cultures are different and someone might be doing something that you are not used to and it does not mean he or she is being disrespectful it is just their culture.

The Last of the Mohicans/Native Americans
Native Americans have dealt with the colonists since the early times. In 1757 there was the French and Indian War where there were French and Indians against the British and Indians. The attitudes between these groups were both strained and good. The British used the Indians for their own needs to help transport things because they knew the land and they took the opinions of the Indians doubtful when they suggested something. The British had trouble in trusting the Indians that helped them.
In the video Native American Indian Children Boarding Schools Cherokee Carlisle the native Americans were very disrespected and treated horrible. For example he had a big red cone put on his head that said dunce. When ever he would talk his first language would come out and he would get hit. They beat him and cut off his hair. They took him from his home and what he was used to and he was not able to follow the traditions and speak the language he speaking since he was born.
We can see that Native Americans have been through a lot of diversity due to people views on them and the traditions that they have. In the old times tradition that people were not used to were considered bad so the Indians were considered to be bad people and wrong for how they lived. This still goes on in the world today there is so much diversity and different traditional that people are not used to and there is a negative opinion on the tradition because it is not what they are used to seeing.
